Ha! Mother, she is the living embodiment of motherhood!
~My mother worked for a travel agency! and she booked guilt trips~
Since I can remember I was facinated by this woman’s ability to manipulate, and disrupt any peaceful gathering. She would start with one child by telling them all the abuse she has received on the part of their sibling. She would push and push to a point you felt you had to champion her! Afterward, she would sit there with a wicked smile on her face enjoying the chaos she brought about with her kids. By this time they all were at each other’s throat, and in later years the daughter-in-laws ready to kill someone and her!
The silent treatment would come after! The person that championed her, would receive the silent treatment by her and the whole family for ruining the Sunday Dinner! Or the Holiday!
At 86 years old, a widow and not too many friends, she is still pulling these tactics! She insists on placing one against the other just to see who would come running! Some have abandoned her some just do not care.
The old expression, ‘ look at the mother, see the daughter’ scares me to death, everyday I’m in front of the mirror wondering when will I be like her!
Then I realize my character, my philosophy, and spiritual makeup are ions apart from HER! I feel better everytime I tell myself that.
I declare Independence from my mother on this day, no more tyranny!
(I hope she’s not reading this blog!)

Thank you for stopping by mine 🙂 I am glad you have stood up for yourself but hope that you can still be compassionate towards your mother, especially since she is old and you two are still family. Huggles 🙂

Oh, becoming my mother was my fear too, so I used my dad as a role model since he was nice and loved life. I had to smile that you wrote “I hope she’s not reading this blog!” Ah, we love our parents but declaring independence is definitely a healthy act! 🙂
