Afoot and light-hearted I take to the open road
Healthy, free, the world before me,
The long brown path before me, leading whenever I choose.
Henceforth I ask not good-fortune ~ I am good-fortune,
Henceforth I whimper no more, postpone no more, need nothing,
Strong and content, I travel the open road.
From the ‘Poem of the Road’ Walt Whitman
Some people can look at a map and find it easy to find. Other people need a more concrete approach to find their way, preferring to rely on landmarks and street signs.
I have a different way of seeking, learning, and finding what I want in life, it has been the source of all my problems. It was a huge gap of understanding between my family and at times even people in my circle. It was just a different way of approaching life. But instead I was labeled.
Today I have shed my labels, my very existence and light-footed steps on a new path is an act of rebellion. Walt Whitman poems said it more eloquently than I, on traveling on to new beginnings. My footsteps on a new path, are free, unburdened, and I am following it light-hearted.

And may your footprints make great impressions on the road they walk and may you find the joy you seek. now and forever more…..doesn’t it feel good to shed the labels that others have given to you….letting them mold whom you become, I don’ think so……if I may quote my good friend Popeye, “I am what I am – and that’s all that I am” either like it or not…
enjoy the weekend….kat

As long as sure of the path
You are never alone
The test will still come
But a path chooses is not the roads end but a beginning

I made this same choice years ago. I wanted a new direction as the old growing up was awful. It wasn’t me. I looked down that long, lonely, yet beautiful road and set out putting one foot in front of the other. That road has led me to lovely places in nature, places of peace and joy. Nature, I learned, doesn’t judge.
This is not to say that the road has been without difficulties and my life is fabulous. No, but I feel that as far as my inner self is concerned I made the right choice. May it be so for you too.
“Two roads diverged in a wood and I, I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.” – Robert Frost
